CCAM 5-year Advocacy Plan

FIVE ACTIVITIES TO BE CONDUCTED IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS

1. Monitoring of Malaria Indicators for Advocacy Objective: Monitor malaria indicators in Cameroon

CCAM will conduct 6-monthly nation wide surveys to monitor malaria indicators as an independent body to serve as watch dog of the efficacy of malaria programming in Cameroon.

Activity: The LQAS tool will be used. Samples will be collected by administering the KPC2000+ questionnaire to randomly sampled households.

Results:

a) Cameroon malaria indicators will be available and the efficacy of the malaria program in Cameroon will be determined.

b) Evidence based advocacy will be conducted in Cameroon at the district, provincial and central levels.

2. Support Parliamentarians to engage in malaria advocacy Objective: Parliamentarians actively engage in passing malaria related laws

Activity: Train and support parliamentarians on malaria and advocacy

Results:

a) Laws are passed on exoneration of imported malaria related goods

b) Parliamentarians engage in budget debate in favour of health in general and malaria in particular including 15% national budget allocated to health

3. Cameroon Media Against Malaria (CAMAM) and malaria advocacy

Objective: Journalists become effective in malaria advocacy nationwide

Activities:

a) Train and support journalists on malaria advocacy

b) Conduct investigative journalism and advocacy

Results: Malaria related change as a result of investigative journalism. Increase in access to services by the grassroots population

4. Organisational Development for Grassroots Organisations in Cameroon

Objective: Grassroots organizations developed to conduct malaria advocacy and access funding for their activities Activities: Organisational Assessement, capacity building

Result: Grassroots CSOs are more effective in accessing funds and conducting advocacy activities for malaria

5. Information Resource Centre for Central/Francophone Africa

Objective: Develop a bilingual information resource centre for Central Francophone Africa

Activity: Train staff to run the resource centre, gather resources including research findings, disseminate information through a quarterly update, make resources available by internet

Results: Information available at the information resource centre both electronic and hard copies. Information also available on website for access all over the world, newsletter for dissemination of new information
