Dr Apol Soriano leaves for Burkina Faso

12 July 2008

CCAM offered a send-off party for Dr Apol Soriano, one of its active workgroup members on 10 July 2008. Dr. Apol and his family are leaving for Burkina Faso, where he would continue to serve humanity in another capacity. A barbecue party was thrown for Dr. Apol and his family at the CCAM courtyard to mark their departure. As an international public health consultant, he was very much at the service of CCAM – filling the gaps where necessary and assisting tirelessly each time he was called up for any important assignment.

Though of Pilipino origin, Dr. Apol and the wife have been working in Cameroon for the over years. And they really cherished their stay in Cameroon. While his wife has been working for Plan Cameroon, the dutiful medical doctor volunteered with CCAM. During his stay at CCAM, he contributed enormously in moulding the Policy and Implementation WG. The fruits of his labour, as Dr. Esther Tallah puts it, are quite evident in this dynamism and productivity of this workgroup. Pierre, Antoine and Ronny have a lot of old memories share of the cheerful and friendly Dr. Apol.

“Dr. Apol was not only a workgroup member, but a dear friend to us. He always radiates with joy. He has always been there when we needed him, always assisting and guiding us on how to work on project proposals, project management (monitoring and evaluation) among other things. His leaving will cost us so much, but we wish him all the best where he is going to…” they testified.  Prof. Rose Leke equally joined in to thank him for the wonderful job he did while with CCAM. He encouraged him to continue with the good work and that going to Burkina Faso is going of great benefit to him as “Burkina Faso it is reputed for best practices”.

He was offered special gifts by the CCAM family and the Policy & Implementation WG as a token of appreciation for a job well done. Thereafter, everyone went out in the open yard for a bite which was closely followed by snapshots amidst a festive atmosphere.
