Cameroon launches the RBM Progress & Impact Series Reports

On Wednesday, 25 May 2011, Mr. André Mama Fouda, the Minister of Public Health (MOH), presided over the launching ceremony of the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Progress & Impact Series Reports in Cameroon. The high-level advocacy event that took place in the Yaoundé Hilton Hotel saw the presence of a cross-section of government officials and representatives from ministerial departments, international bodies, the Chantal Biya Foundation and other Civil Society Organisations, dignitaries as well as collaborating agencies of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP).
The purpose of the launch as Prof. Rose Leke, the MC-CCAM Executive Director indicated in her welcome speech is: “To raise awareness and advocate for more financial and technical support as well as effectiveness in malaria control interventions in Cameroon in particular and in the sub-region at large”.
The launch was organised under the distinguished auspices of the Minister of Public Health and coordinated by the Malaria Consortium-Cameroon Coalition Against Malaria (MC-CCAM) staff, a Civil Society Organisation coordinating advocacy for the fight against malaria within the context of a variety of membership within the coalition. The NMCP, the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF and partner organisations in the current Global Fund Round 9-Malaria Project: Plan Cameroon, Association Camerounais pour le Marketing Social (ACMS) and Institute for Research, Socio-economic Development and Communication (IRESCO) facilitated technically in the process and did presentations of the 8 reports.
